About the Soccer Valley Community

The MRC has served citizens of Santa Fe since 1998. People of all ages have hit the fields to practice and play soccer as well as sports like lacrosse, flag football, and more. With all of this use over the years, the MRC has reached capacity, and the soccer fields are increasingly worn down and in need of an overhaul. Both the City of Santa Fe and stakeholder groups around the city have started taking the steps and pursuing the funding to make improvements and expansions that will prepare the MRC to serve the Santa Fe soccer and sports community for another 25 years and more!

The 2015 MRC Soccer Complex Master Plan identified an expansion and diversification of amenities and fields that renovates the existing Soccer Complex, while activating new areas within the MRC. These expansions and renovations seek to address a critical area of need for the Santa Fe Soccer community by expanding capacity and providing upgrades that can better accommodate the high utilization of the existing facilities.

The 2015 Master Plan envisions the development of the “Upper Terrace” (northeast of the existing Soccer Valley) with four regulation-sized fields, complemented by expanded parking, new access from Caja del Rio Road, a clubhouse building with a community plaza area and site furnishings, and interconnected pathways that provide a synergy with the Soccer Valley area.

Atop the hillside northeast of the existing Soccer Valley, the Master Plan identifies an “Expansion Area” that provide two additional full-sized fields with supporting access roads and additional parking that again provides additional capacity and furthers the activation of the MRC Soccer Complex as a whole. Connecting pathways and trails will provide additional interconnectivity and pedestrian access throughout the site that will enhance the vibrancy and use of the facility for a diverse set of users—parents wanting to stretch their legs during halftime and enjoy a moment in the natural beauty of the area, younger children riding their bikes

in an area protected from vehicular traffic, or teammates developing their conditioning during the summer preseason training sessions.
